“Koke-dere” /moss garden in Kyoto is the oldest important garden of the Muromachi Period. The moss garden restored in 1868 was designed as a meditation garden and is organized around the shape of the Japanese character for the “heart” or “spirit”

This is one of the images being exhibited at Eastep Photography open studio Saturday, March 31, 2018, 11 am to 4pm.

Approaching storm at sunset along a canal in the Florida Everglades.

A powerful storm looming on the horizon combined with the low angle of warm light on the sawgrass created this dramatic image in the Everglades.

The “golden hour” is just before sunset when the sun is about 10 degrees above the horizon. The light of the sun in this position must pass through more of the atmosphere resulting in amore reddish and yellow color beautifully illuminating the landscape.

This image along with about a dozen other images of water from the “Serenity” series will be on display during my open studio at C-3/Central Creative Commons on March 31, 2018 hours: 11 am to 4 pm.  1338 Central Avenue, Sarasota, Florida 34236 (between 13 & 14th streets).

Serene night on the Gulf of Mexico

My friend and fellow photographer, Peter Silvia made an astute observation about a recently curated collection of my images showcasing water.

“You know Wayne these images of water are really about serenity”.

Images can be more about feeling than the fact of the subject.

This is particularly the case  when when we are in a state of union with the subject we are observing.

I hope when you look at the images I’ll share in the coming days you find that they give you a moment of serenity.
