This mission church is one of the oldest churches in America dedicated to San Francisco de Asis. It is an outstanding example of adobe mission architecture. Constructed between 1813 & 1815. Ranchos de Taos, New Mexico.

The clean lines and earthen materials make it a kindered spirit to modern architecture from the Sarasota School of Architecture. They both integrate the outdoor environment with the architecture using simple materials and clean lines in the design.

The Mission church is one of the oldest churches in America. Dedicated to San Francisco de Asis. An outstanding example of adobe mission architecture. Constructed between 1813 & 1815. Ranchos de Taos, New Mexico

Making an image of this magnificent adobe structure in Taos is a little like photographing the sunset.  Probably every photographer who has traveled to Taos has made an image of this beautiful building.  This is mine.

There is an elemental earth feature to this structure and the presence of the human hand which drew me to make this image.   I feel it illustrates the art within architecture.

This image will be featured in the show “Art of Architecture” at my gallery on June 30.
